Shelf Help

I cleaned out the garage over Labor Day weekend and found this shelf. It was ironic because I was just thinking I wish I had a shelf for my boys room. I debated on color. The main color of the boys room is baby blue. So, I considered painting it baby blue. However, I want it to fit the boys as they grow a little too. So I chose this color.Ok guys be honest. I need your help. Is it too crazy? This is an "after" I am just not sure about. I am thinking of re-painting it green or white. I'm not sure if I like how it works with the rest of the room. It might be too soon to say. I still have more art to create and more of this bright blue accent to incorporate into other areas of the room. Maybe still a bright blue but a little more green or muted and less purple? Help!

  1. It's a little... um, vibrant for my taste, and also for the items sitting on it, in my opinion. I like the bold color, but might do something to mute it a bit... a glaze or something? I don't know.

  2. Thanks, Valerie. I think your right. Blue is not bad. It's just the wrong blue. I just went and bought a different shade. It's similar but a little more muted. Wish me luck. I'll post pics after it's done, of course!

  3. I like the color itself! I think you're right; it's the surroundings that are making it weird. I'm excited to see your new hue!

  4. I like the blue, but it needs some dimension. The cute drawer pulls blend in and you can't see the other details.

  5. Stacee,
That bothers me a little too. I almost like how the knobs stand out more in the "before". One reason it might seem so flat is that super flat paint. The new paint I chose is glossy. I hope it will add a little dimension.
