DIY Baby Shoe Tutorial

It seems I've been doing a lot of baking lately. If you are ready for a change, you're in luck! Today I'm going to show you how I made some little baby shoes for my friends' babies.
The part that took the longest was making a pattern that worked. I suggest you buy one, unless you're a good pattern maker, which I'm not. :) I sort of traced some shoes that fit well and looked at Martha's felt pattern here. If you are feeling brave and want to use my pattern, you can find it here.
1. Gather your supplies: outside fabric (patterned), inside fabric (solid), felt for sole, thin ribbon, paper to make a template on, pencil, scissors, needle & thread or sewing machine.
2. Trace your shoe to create a pattern, buy one, or use mine -- at your own risk :). Cut your fabric out using your pattern.
3. Line the 2 top pieces of fabric up and sew down each center cut and around the inside circle (see my pattern step one). I put my ribbon between the 2 pieces of fabric.
4. Turn right sides out. Sew the back of the shoe together with the inside (solid) fabric showing. See step 3 on my pattern.
5. Gather a little fabric around the toe so it lines up correctly with the felt sole (see my pattern). Sew the top and sole (bottom) together.
6. Turn right side out. Attach ribbon if you didn't on step 3. I think my ribbon was about 6 inches long each. You could embellish them with flowers too.
