Simple No-Bake Oreo "Cake Balls"

My sister taught me how to make these yummy cake balls. They are much more simple than baking a cake and all of that fanciness. They look so pretty on a dessert table and are really tasty too.
I made these ones for one of my friends who is finding out if her baby is a boy or girl tomorrow. I can't wait! Sorry I didn't make any cake balls when you found out about your little girl, Mandi. :) I'm so excited for both of you!
DIRECTIONS:
1. Gather your ingredients: 2 packages of white chocolate chips, 1 package of cream cheese, and 1 package of oreo cookies (I didn't use double stuffed and they were actually Great Value brand).
2. Place your cookies in a gallon zip top bag. Try to get all the air out before you seal it. Roll them with a rolling pin until they are crushed as fine as possible.
3. Add the cream cheese to the bag (no need to soften your cream cheese). Reseal and mash it with your hands until it's completely combined.
4. Roll into balls. Mine are about 1" and I can usually get about 50 cake balls from this recipe.
5. Melt chocolate over very low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning. You will probably want to melt one bag, use it, then melt the other bag (it hardens fairly quickly).
6. Dip* your oreo balls into the melted chocolate. Place them on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper.
7. Add a little food coloring to any remaining chocolate and mix it up. Place it in a plastic bag with a small hole cut out of the corner. Add a little design by squeezing the bag.
8. Let the chocolate harden. I store mine in the refrigerator. You're done. Enjoy!

*DIPPING TIPS:
Dipping is the trickiest and most time-consuming part. If you are like me, just let it go! They aren't going to look perfect. It's ok. I tried 3 methods this time...

FORKS: I prefer to drop mine in right after I form the balls, dump a bunch of chocolate on them with a spoon, lift them out with one fork and transfer to another to "strain" the excess chocolate off and put them on the sheet. This way does tend to pull some chocolate off with the fork but I just put that part turned down.

CHILL & SKEWERS: My sister likes to chill hers in the refrigerator while she melts the chocolate, place them on a skewer, dip them in, add a little to the top with a spoon, and ever so carefully transfer them with another skewer. This way tends to make the chocolate harden faster but creates the smoothest cake balls.

HAND-DIPPED: This time around I did some by sticking my clean hands in and rolling them around in chocolate. That is probably the fastest, most effective way but it sure makes a mess and your cake balls won't be very smooth.

  2. Hello! These are adorable. <3 I chilled mine for 10 minutes in the freezer then dipped them using a toothpick. I didn't have to worry about my chocolate melting on me too quickly since I used a double boiler and it kept the chocolate melted, nice, and smooth. They turned out really smooth! My kids had so much fun decorating them with sprinkles, candy corn, and some left over oreo cookie topping. :) Thanks for sharing your recipe!

  3. So glad these worked for you Mimphy. They are a favorite! I tried coloring some white chocolate to drizzle on some recently. The food coloring caused the chocolate to harden up. So, the little hearts might not work every time.
